KILLE WAU
A Bavarian village turns into Chinatown once a year
February is the time when carnival is celebrated throughout Germany. In Dietfurt, a 6,000 people town in Bavaria, some 15,000 spectators gather on "Silly Thursday" to watch the locals' Chinese Fasching parade. All dressed up as Chinese and shouting "Kille Wau", 50 groups march through the city center to revere the Bavrian-Chinese emperor. This year however, the throne remained empty. The old emperor "Fu Gau-Di" had abdicated and the people is now urgently looking for a suitable successor. The big dragon carriage was steered by a "dragon princess" this year instead. As with many Bavarian festival traditions, after the parade it's all about partying and drinking beer.
